Change the World

Today I re-wrote my mission.

“Use creativity to create positive change in the world”

I believe we all have responsibility to leave this place better. To make our mark in a way that is relieved of superficiality. I’m sick of talking about what brand of vodka I drink, what type of A-line skirts I buy, what my favourite shade of lipstick is.

Let’s drop the bullshit. Let it go. Focus on what’s real.

What’s real is that we have an obligation; an obligation to others around us. To pick them up when they are down, to show them hope and inspiration, to give them a voice even if it’s only to us, to give them a hand towards seeing a future, to showing them what it means to dream. Self belief is something unbelievable. If you can make one person believe that they CAN, it could pertain to a situation that changes their life.

There are too many people around us that say they can’t. Too many who close the door in someone’s face as they are trying to reach for the handle. It’s our responsibility to hold that door open. It’s our responsibility to feel for one another, to empathize, to see what’s real. It is our responsibility to inspire each other to do better every day. Everyone has demons inside them, some people are more aware of their demons and can keep them quiet in the corner. By being around others who spread positive messages, the demons have no choice but to stay hushed. How hard is it to ask another person how they are doing? Do they need help? How hard is it to say thank you? To give someone credit for great work?

There are too many people afraid that being selfless will leave them powerless.

I say being selfless will be the most rewarding thing you do. For you will watch another rise through adversity and believe in themselves.

What’s more rewarding than that?
